Can a workflow build a website automatically for a client or prospect from a form?

Yes. The workflow builder has a Create website step. You give it a prompt and it builds the website, the same as asking the AI assistant to build it. When it finishes, it gives you the URL of the site it created, which you can email or text to the customer. The website also appears under Websites.

To redesign a prospect's existing website from a form:

  1. Create a form that asks for the website address (and name, email and phone if you want them), publish it, and set a Form submission trigger on that form in an agent workflow.
  2. Add a Sub agent step with the web extract and web search tools so it can read the site. Tell it to crawl the website from the form's URL variable and output a detailed prompt to rebuild it, with all the content and full instructions to redesign it using the same text and images.
  3. Increase the sub agent's maximum output length, because these prompts can be long. The maximum is 128,000.
  4. Add a Create website step, give the website a name, and tell it to build the website according to the instructions, inserting the sub agent's output variable.
  5. Optionally send the person an email when the site is ready, because the build takes some minutes.

Open the agent's runs (Activity) to watch what each step is doing. You can test the sub agent with a sample URL first.

How complete the result is depends on the quality of your prompt. For a free lead magnet, keep it to one landing page rather than a twenty page site. Use a prompt you have tested in the AI assistant and are happy with, and put boilerplate rules in every prompt, such as always including a lead capture form in the hero section, using contrasting colors so the buttons stand out, and using no more than five sections.

Not every business has a website, so ask on the form whether they have one. If they do, ask for the URL and crawl it. If not, use a different prompt that works from the business name or a one sentence description they type in.

The sub agent is billed as a pass through on the language model tokens, so with a small model the cost is negligible.
